The Prospect Park Figure Skating Club (PPFSC) promotes the enjoyment of figure skating by providing ice time outside of public sessions. The Club offers "freestyle" sessions at the Kate Wollman Rink in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, our home rink, and Abe Stark Rink in Coney Island, Brooklyn. At these 90-minute sessions, skaters may skate forwards or backwards — either direction — and perform moves in the field, jumps and spins. Private or semi-private lessons are available by top-notch instructors for an extra fee.

PPFSC is a not-for-profit organization that started in 1980. Volunteers organize the ice time; there is no paid staff. All fees go to cover the costs of renting the ice. Participants must pay in full for all sessions offered on a particular day in the season.

The PPFSC currently has approximately 30 members; no more than 25 skate at each session. Most are intermediate skaters. Many are adults. Family members frequently skate together. The Club is an official member club of the US Figure Skating and all our members join the USFS annually through membership in PPFSC.

Achievement of individual goals, whether artistic, recreational or competitive, is encouraged through an atmosphere of support, practice and instruction.
